Sailing 2018 - start of the season.

I hate to say it but I realised I didn't finish off last year's blog. I took the log book home but then I forgot all about it. This really annoyed me and haven't started on this years blog. So after much procrastination I decided to start this years blog and will finish last years when I have time. I hope this is as clear as mud to one and all.

After getting Rascal ready for the coming season we decided to have a trip down the Orwell and have a night on a buoy. It would also give us the opportunity to check the reefs as the wind was in the wrong direction on the pontoon. The advantage of putting the sails up whilst on a buoy is we done have to worry about the boat whilst faffing about with the sails. It worked, in that we got the sails up and reef 2 working well but still a problem with reef 1.

The weather was lovely and we had a calm night on the river and were even visited by a seal the following morning.

All bodes well for our summer sail. We haven't got a definite plan, just a fluid plan. We are stating a little later this year as we have a wedding mid May. Then we shall go to London and explore the Essex and maybe Suffolk coast. Then back home for a wedding in July.
